Race for the top 4
Still very tight.

Manchester United's recent slump has brought them into the scrap.

Even Arsenal down in 10th have an outside chance. Teams like Villa with 2 games in hand.

I would say Liverpool have the easiest run in out the lot. We probably have the hardest but then we don't have any cup/European games. Leicester's last 3 are tough.

Can we do it? Heart says yes. Head will say yes if we beat Leeds and get a point against Man U.

Norway I thought they’d scrapped FFP

Re: Race for the top 4
In the remaining games, we can lose 4th spot if:

Chelsea get 1 more point than us,
Liverpool win one more game than us,
Spurs win 2 more games than us,
Everton win 3 more games than us,
Arsenal or Leeds win 4 more games than us,
Villa win 5 more games than us.

We drop a place for any of those outcomes. A win at Newcastle all but rules out the last two.

Re: Race for the top 4
After beating Leicester you can see we can win all our remaining games, and therefore no one can stop us.
It’s a big ask though isn’t it, win our last 7 games.
I am most concerned about Liverpool catching us up. Perhaps Leicester drop more points and we can pass them and get more of a cushion.
One thing is for sure, it’s great to have an end to the season like this!

Re: Race for the top 4
Is this the same Chelsea that spent 250 million last summer?

The owners can spend money this upcoming window. Whether they want to however is a different discussion altogether. Financial fair play is just a yarn that the owners like to spin.

Pub B. You’re not really into rules and regulations, are you? The owners can’t just spend. You have heard of the Fair Play Rules? The days of Chelsea and Man City, just buying success are over. We can only buy within our budget and guess what? WE ALREADY DO THAT. Pellegrini spent a fortune and look where that got us.

Mind blowing that it's part of a conversation, has challenging for the Champions League. A tournament I never watch, but would be fucking euphoric if we end up it with our threadbare squad, with the worst owners and facilities in the league, but with a tight group of players, coaches and management fighting for each other.

Getting the ECL almost guarantees we keep our best players and forces GSB to spend.

Davie Moyes, incredible job so far.

I think every game is a Cup Final for most teams now
Newcastle v Us will be huge.
I hope Newcastle are complacent like Bruce has mentioned.
I feel Moyes will double up against Maxim, but Bruce could switch him to the left and right. Playing a back 3 with Coufal and Johnson covering the flanks would be better defensively.
Chelsea are more than likely to beat us than WBA. Liverpool staying in the CL is a must for us as I can see them finsihing 3rd.
We should keep the same approach but get a bloody 4th to ease our worries.

I have a strong feeling we will beat Newcastle handily.

We are a good team ffs! We have the bit between our teeth and the momentum, plus we can score a hatful of goals against practically anyone, especially Newcastle.

I’m going for a comfortable 3-0 win.

Wilson back for Newcastle means he will score and they have their speedster back. Will need to score 4 against Chelsea to win.

I have a strong feeling we will lose to Newcastle but we still will be in with a shout for top 4.

its one of those games that has banana skin potential and we will be wanting a victory going into the Chelsea game. Luckily they now have a 6 point cushion on Fulham so a win may not be looking so critical for them.

Fine margins
The home game against Man Utd when the ball was 2 yards out for the first goal, if we had won that we would be equal 2nd

The main concern I had was the Gooners game, we could have been sitting in third place tonight!

If we had Jesse Lingard at the start of the season we could have been pushing for the title let alone going for the top 4!

We had a good chance but drew 3 games in row.

I can’t be bothered to get the calculator out but with Chelsea/Everton/Leicester/Spurs playing each other in games means the points total needed could be lower for 4th

Manuel 8:59 Sun Apr 11
Re: Race for the top 4
Thing is it changes weekly, but if you're looking at it right now you'd probably fancy Leicester to do again what they did last season. They finish with 3 tough games too, plus as said cup distractions.
